The Approve Referendum 74 campaign has gotten off to a good start. Fundraising is a good indication of that. Almost a million dollars raised before the 4th of July is pretty good. The polls show a pretty even race, but I expect the election results in November to show that Washington voters are proud to be one of the first states to allow gay marriage. Washington State is a leader in this civil rights battle for gays and lesbians to marry who they want. It is a basic right, and Democrats such a Jay Inslee for Governor of Washington are rally around gay marriage.
From the Approve Referendum 74 Campaign for Gay Marriage in Washington
I wanted you to be the first to know about our official fundraising total for June. Our supporters made 4,744 contributions and raised $952,267 for the campaign to defend marriage equality in Washington and Approve Referendum 74. And 79% of our contributions were less than $100.
Another very cool stat: 90% of the donations in June came from Washingtonians.
I can’t tell you how important — and gratifying — it is to see so many people invest early in our campaign to defend the freedom to marry.
This campaign wouldn’t be possible without supporters like you, so check out this short video we did to extend our thanks. Please, take a moment to watch this video.
I have no doubt we can win this battle if we keep building this army of supporters. With every dollar, every signature, and every minute of time from people like you, we get stronger and stronger.
The big vote to Approve Referendum 74 and defend the freedom to marry is less than four months away — and it’s with the support of people like you that we can win this November.
Thank you for all you’ve done so far. We can’t let up now. Together, we will win.
